Abstract

Introduction:Regular intakeofdietaryfiber (DF) cancounteract thenegative impactsofobesityonphysical healthandchronicdiseaserisk.DFmitigatesobesitybypromotingfullness,reducingcalories,slowingnutrient absorption, stabilizingglucose,preventingfatstorage,andinfluencinggutmicrobiota.High-performance(HP) inulin, ahighlyfermentablewater-solubleDF, showspromise,but itspalatabilityis limitedinpowder form. CombiningHPinulinwithbeneficialtriglycerideslikeMediumChainTriglycerides(MCT)couldovercomethis issue. Aimofstudy:ThisstudyinvestigatestheeffectsofHPinulin-MCTonlipidmetabolismandimmunemodulationin high-fathigh-sucrose(HFHS)diet-inducedobesemice. Methods:Obesemicewereorallyadministeredwith20%(w/v)HP inulin-MCTad-libitumfor30days.We measuredtheirperipheralbloodlipidprofile, includingLDL,HDL,andtriglycerides.Additionally, theathero geniccoefficient,aparameterforassessingcardiovasculardiseaserisk,wasdeterminedbycalculatingtheratioof non-HDL-CtoHDL-C.FlowcytometrywasusedtoidentifysplenicregulatoryCD4+andCD8+Tcells(Tregs). TheNon-AlcoholicSteatohepatitisScorewasassessedthroughhistologicalexamination. Results:Significant reducedbodymass index, improvedlipidprofiles,andreducedcardiovasculardiseaserisk wereobservedintheobesemicetreatedwithHPinulin-MCT.Moreover,HPinulin-MCTappearedtoameliorate non-alcoholicsteatohepatitis,aliverconditionassociatedwithobesity.Thesehealthimprovementswerelinked to immune systemmodulation, associatedwithan increaseofCD4+T-regulatorycellsafterHP inulin-MCT supplementation. Conclusion:HP inulin-MCTisapromisingandpalatabledietary interventiontocombat obesity-relatednon communicablediseases,offeringthepotential forbetteroverallhealthoutcomes.
