Abstract
Hyperglycemia is one of the main clinical symptoms of diabetes mellitus. The use of herbal medicine can be an additional therapy to address this condition. Matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata) have the potential to lower blood glucose levels. The active compounds in the extract of matoa leaves, such as flavonoids are effective as antihyperglycemic agents. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata) using the soxhlet extraction method as antihyperglycemic in male mice (Mus musculus). This study employs an experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test controlled group design involving 25 mice. Matoa leaves are extracted using the soxhlet method with 70% ethanol, resulting in a yield of 20.51% of concentrated extract. Glucose levels are measured every 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes, and the results are analyzed using SPSS software for One Way Anova test if the data is normally distributed and homogeneous, then followed by Tukey's Test. The results of the study indicate that the leaf extract of Matoa obtained through the soxhletation method is effective as an antihyperglycemic agent in mice induced with 20% glucose. The average decrease in blood glucose levels at a dose of 200 mg/kgBB is 105,8 mg/dL, at a dose of 300 mg/kgBB is 112.4 mg/dL, and at a dose of 400 mg/kgBB is 118 mg/dL.
